On the road again, Just can’t wait to get on the road again …
Goin’ places that I’ve never been Seein’ things that I may never see again. Just can’t wait to get on the road again …
Willie and I will always have that in common.
Thanks to Ky for this great shot.
This morning bright and early Ky and I packed up and headed out of Casas Grandes. We had a tank full of gas and three different maps and a route roughly planned. Final destination of the day… Creel, Chihuahua. There was a direct route and then there was the route that we decided to take. One older map said the road went through, one newer map showed that it didn’t. Some locals said it did go through, others expressed doubt, but then changed their minds and said, yes, we could make it through that way on dirt roads. We had decided to try to go see the Cascada de Basaseachic Mexico’s tallest waterfall. It would add a couple of hours to our trip, but it should be worth it. In the end, it added the couple of hours, and no, you can’t make it that way!
But, we did get to see things that we will likely never see again (as the song goes) and it was definitely worth it. We’ll have to make it to the falls on another trip.
Would you…?
Or maybe this instead? Are you in to antiques or or a bit more modern?
We arrived in Creel and it is a quaint town with a mixture of inhabitants – Mexicans and Tarahumari, the indigenous tribe of colorfully dressed women. After our long drive, we just strolled around town, had an early dinner and then we were surprised to have one of the locals call out to Ky. Beto remembered him from the last time Ky was here with the motorcycle guys. I guess tall gringos don’t make it here all that often so he was memorable.
I loved this little vaquero.
More photos tomorrow, but this internet is not what you would call speedy Gonzalez. Not even as fast as this guy I saw today.
We called it an early night, but tomorrow will be another full day. I hope you had a great day too!
Hugs!
