Tamasopo, San Luis Potosi – Day 2
La Huasteca is a region that is known for its beautiful geography and many outdoor activites. It is named after an indigenous group that had its heyday in about 700 – 850 AD. There are decendants of the Mayans – they were the northernmost relatives. The rivers and waterfalls make fantastic playgrounds, so today we once again enjoyed the scenery…
And we played!
My most graceful moment – the rest of the shots were not pretty – they would make you laugh, but I’m just a bit too vain to publish those!
We are very likely too old to be doing the type of things we were doing, but we’re trying to keep that a secret from our bodies for a bit longer 😉
We had the great fortune to meet a wonderful family from Mexico City who were visiting the Tamasopo Falls too. They had been there once before and kindly asked us if we wanted to join them in a hike up the hill to the top of the waterfalls. Afterwards, they invited us to dinner at a nearby restaurant, and we feasted on enormous shrimp and a fish called bagre that was so meaty and delicious. I was surprised to see that bagre translates to catfish. I’ve clearly been out of Texas for too long not to recognize that taste. We hope to get to see our new friends again in one of our next stops.
So today we played, and tonight we’re exhausted!
Hugs!
